We, Gonda Metal, exhibited at “TECHNICAL SHOW YOKOHAMA 2010” held from
February 3 (Wed.) through 5 (Fri.) sponsored by Kanagawa Industrial Promotion
Center and Federation of Yokohama City Industrial Association. That was
the biggest integrated general trade fair in Kanagawa concerning the industrial
technology and products, and became 31st times in this year.
The theme of this show was “Develop the future by a new technology”. The
show had 5 categories such as “Business solution”, “Production”, “Life
& Environment”, “Cooperation between various industries group/Support
organization” and “Cooperation among Industry, Academia and the Public”,
and originally and advanced latest technology, products and the information
services were exhibited there. We exhibited to “Production” field.
To establish
the press forming technology by Magnesium alloy sheet AZ61, Gonda Metal equipped
a servo press machine on October 8, 2009 by subsidy for supporting product
development by MONODZUKURI (Manufacturing) Small and Medium Enterprises. The
development by the servo press machine advanced steadily, and as the result of
that, test pieces, cylindrical cup (inside R=1mm) and square cup (inside R=1mm)
for deep drawability, samples for PC cover and mobile phone cover, and a coil
made from 600mm width AZ61 sheet (weight: 63kg) were displayed this time.

TECHNICAL SHOW YOKOHAMA 2010 was opened by the greeting of sponsors, Governor
Matsuzawa of Kanagawa Prefecture and Mayor Hayashi of Yokohama City. The
total visitors, at three days of the session of the show, were approx 30,000
people and approx 200 people visited our booth.
We
felt the height of admiration and expectation to magnesium as the next
generation material because a lot of considerably special questions concerning
the process of manufacture, the machinability, the press formability, the
surface treatment to prevent the oxidation and etc were asked from visitors to
understand what the magnesium is.
Magnesium is the lightest of all the commonly used metals and is excellent
in the strength-to weight ratio, the vibration resistant, the EMI shielding
and the recyclability, so Magnesium is very friendly material to a person
and an environment. The 21st century is called the age of Magnesium though
the 20th century has been called the age of Aluminum. We, Gonda Metal will
make the magnesium widely popularizing in the future and also will develop
the magnesium business actively more than past as a pioneer of the global
warming prevention.
